How Beehive Came About

Niall Dorey, a trained primary school teacher from the UK, taught at one of the local private schools in Mzuzu, Malawi in 2001. In recognizing the need for a quality primary school in the city, he opened his own school in 2003 with just 8 pupils in the house he rented, with the philosophy that quality teachers will lead to quality education.

Since then, Beehive School has been growing steadily and has an excellent reputation in the area. The school has grown to 7 grades and 165 students. Niall has moved out of his rented house, and it still serves as the location of the school. The school has plans to move into permanent buildings.
