About Our Teachers
Beehive School employs six fulltime teachers. These teachers consist of three men and three women. They are from Malawi, T"anzania, the US, the UK, and Zambia. These teachers have been trained to teach up to international standards, and follow UK/US curriculum. Click here to learn more about them.

Internal Teacher Training
Beehive School offers internal teacher training. This allows local teachers to learn about international curriculum and become qualified to teach at Beehive School.

Every Friday the school finishes at 12 and the teachers are trained on subjects such as: phonics, mental math strategies, I.T. skills, using texts to cover the curriculum, cross curriculum learning, essential teaching skills, hearing kids read, early years learning, discipline strategies, class management, displays in class, and many more. Niall Dorey, the headmaster, has designed these INSET sessions using his P.G.C.E (Post Grad Certificate of Education) notes and following staff discussions of what would be most useful.

The teacher training program has been VERY successful and teachers use the skills they learn in the training program in the classroom. For example, the teachers who have been at the school for a few years now reflect on and evaluate their teaching and try new styles and methods of teaching. They now do things like show 'n' tell, phonic games, creative writing, etc.
